The short version
Housecall Pro is built for home-service trades. Its features page lists scheduling, dispatching, estimates that turn into invoices, invoicing with automatic reminders, card and bank payments, consumer financing, a customer portal, a native mobile app, GPS tracking, route optimization, checklists, online booking, On My Way texts, CSR AI to answer calls and book jobs, email marketing, review management, time tracking, job costing, a price book and QuickBooks integration. It is a mature product.
BIKE.co is the erp.io Service module set up for bike repair. Scheduling, quotes, work orders, time tracking, checklists, invoicing and an installable field app are live today. Online booking, customer texts, the customer portal, online payments, the price book and job costing are on the Service roadmap.
If you need a complete field-service tool now, particularly for a van, Housecall Pro is the more complete choice today. If you want software built around bikes and a suite that runs the rest of the business, BIKE.co is the one to trial.
What Housecall Pro does well
Housecall Pro is strong on the customer-facing side of a service call. Customers can book online around the clock, get customized On My Way texts, approve estimates, pay invoices and message you from a customer portal. Review management asks for reviews automatically and tracks them in one place, and CSR AI answers calls and books jobs.
In the field, the mobile app is on the App Store and Google Play. Housecall Pro's help center describes Tap to Pay on iPhone, which takes contactless cards and digital wallets with no extra hardware, alongside card readers. GPS tracking gives customers arrival information and helps route drivers.
For the office, there is a price book for flat-rate services, job costing, time tracking and a QuickBooks integration. Housecall Pro's help center also describes material usage reporting on jobs and fuller truck and warehouse stock management through an integration with Ply.

Where BIKE.co is different
Housecall Pro is built for jobs at a customer's home. A bike shop's work is different: the bike comes to you, sits on a stand, waits on a part, and comes back next spring. Service's work orders are live today as jobs with visits, and the plan builds toward that bike-shop reality, with the bike as its own record carrying serial, owner, components and every past repair, and a bench board showing every bike by status.
Parts inventory is planned as part of Service itself: stock locations for the shop and each van, usage on work orders, reorder points and purchase orders, in phase P8. And the checklist builder is live now, with versioned templates so your tune-up standard stays fixed, answers keyed to the version they were given against, and a PDF the rider keeps.
The rest of the business sits in the erp.io suite: Phony for the phone, Accounting and CFO for money, Marketing for reviews and campaigns, ATS and Courses for hiring and training, Chat and Sign. The field app is web only by design, so there is no Tap to Pay and no background GPS; location is a foreground check-in when the mechanic opens the job.

Who should pick Housecall Pro
Pick Housecall Pro if you need a complete field-service system this season, especially for mobile repair, and want Tap to Pay, a native app, GPS tracking, online booking and On My Way texts working now. Its own pages describe all of these, and BIKE.co does not have them working yet.
BIKE.co makes more sense if you want quotes, jobs, time and invoices on a versioned checklist standard today, bike records and parts inventory as they arrive on the roadmap, and Phony, Accounting, hiring and training in one erp.io login. It is a longer-term choice for service-first shops, and the roadmap page shows exactly where each piece stands.
FAQ
Questions shop owners ask
Is BIKE.co an alternative to Housecall Pro for bike shops?+

No. The BIKE.co field app is web only, so there is no Tap to Pay. In-field payment is planned as a Stripe pay link, a QR code or card entry.
